A beautiful little piece of everyday Japanese kitchenware.
This traditional suribachi mortar has fine ridges carved into the inside of the bowl, designed to catch and crush ingredients as you grind them with the wooden surikogi pestle. Traditionally used in Japan for sesame seeds, spices, nuts and dressings.
Pretty enough to leave out on the kitchen shelf when it isn’t being used.
Made in Japan.
